Briana Perea
Elder
Bri and her family joined the ECL community sometime around 2013, and knew right away it would be their church home. She is married to Manuel, and has one son, Asher; their favorite family activities include parks, museums and video games. A Houston native, Bri grew up in the flight path of Hobby Airport, has been stuck in traffic since 8th grade, and is two degrees of separation from both Beyonce and Paul Wall. Her acute business savvy led her to graduate from the University of Houston in 2008 with a bachelor of arts degree (majoring in anthropology with a minor in Mexican-American studies, which was the practical choice having first pursued the performing arts and journalism as potential career paths). She continues to enjoy a passion for culture, history and ethnographic research, which often manifests in binge-watching period dramas. Bri has professional experience as an academic medical secretary and as a nonprofit fundraiser, both of which involved using more anthropological skills than one might expect. Currently, she works as an administrative assistant for a nonprofit serving the diverse needs of Houston-area churches.
Bri was elected an elder of ECL in the fall of 2023, and is grateful for the opportunity to serve her brothers and sisters in this capacity.
