This Sunday is Pentecost Sunday on the church calendar. On Pentecost we join the historical and global multiethnic, multicultural, and multilingual church to celebrate the birth of the church and to remember the outpouring of the Holy Spirit found in Acts 2. Historically, it is a great day of celebration!

Rather than have a traditional sermon this week, we will watch a prerecorded interview with Pastor Joel Sommers of Access Covenant Church in Portland, OR. In the interview, Pastor Joel reflects on theology of place and why it matters for the local church. We will use the interview as a launching pad to discuss what it means to be the local church in our bodies, in our local community, and at this time. Join us for this special Sunday!

We EMBODY LOVE with one another and with our neighbors.

We READ scripture as a community.

We PRAY together.

We are FORMED by the Holy Spirit as a community.

We are looking forward to launching Connection Groups in Fall 2022. Our Connection Groups will commit to meeting twice a month for 8 months. The first gathering will happen in September each year. The last official gathering will happen in April, although Connection Groups are welcome to meet during the other months. Each fall we will open up the groups and relaunch.

Attached is a file that explains more of the goals, vision, and details about Connection Groups.

Specifically we are looking for Connection Group Leaders. If you are inclined to lead a group we would love to hear from you. If you would like to lead or you have questions please email Pastor Coby at Coby@ecclesiaclearlake.org.

This is a summary of the church’s actual and budgeted expenses and income through April 26, 2022. The most important column to read is the “actual” column. Our actual expenses are lower than we anticipated at this time of the year. However, our income is also lower. We are averaging a loss of around $1,000 a month, putting our actual expenses around $4,000 more than our actual income at this point in the year. Our balance sheet currently shows $175,174.47 uncommitted cash available. This will give us a little cushion as we continue to recover and rebuild as a church community. If you have questions feel free to email one of the Elders.

You are invited to join us on Good Friday for a contemplative service of reading together and reflecting on the scriptures leading up to and the event of Jesus' death. In this life, we are no strangers to pain and suffering, and even death. Let us ask Jesus to be our teacher along the way. What areas of our lives at this time need to be transformed through the rhythm of death, burial and resurrection? Jesus knows our suffering, our grief, our pain and promises to walk through it with us - even leading the way.

Good Friday Service - 6:30 PM at ECL
