Hello, Church Family!

We just entered into the season of Advent. Advent comes from the Latin word meaning "coming". It is a season where we as a church intentionally focus on expectant waiting and preparation. We join the global church in waiting to celebrate the birth of Christ. We also wait on and prepare for the return of Christ when all wrongs will be made right.

Though life can be lonely, painful, and extremely difficult, we wait with hope, peace, joy, and love because we know that God is in control. I hope you can join us on Sundays and Wednesdays during Advent as, together, we prepare our hearts and minds to celebrate the coming of Christ the Lord.

Christmas Eve Candlelight Service
We hope you, your family, and your friends can join us for our Christmas Eve candlelight service on December 24 at 6:00 p.m.

December Diaper Drive
Our friends at Anchor Point are in desperate need of large diapers and pull-ups (sizes 4, 5, and 6) to replenish their diaper pantry. Often times, when people donate to pregnancy centers, they automatically think about supporting children 12 months and younger. However, Anchor Point partners with parents until the child is 3 years old. Please donate diapers and pull-up sizes 4, 5, and 6 in the church lobby any time during the month of December.

Prayer Nights
Join us December 4, 11, and 18 to explore and experience different contemplative prayer practices. We will meet from 6 - 7 p.m. at our facility (218 Clear Creek Ave, 77573).

Hello, Church Family!
We have some important things coming up in our community. I hope you can join us for them!

This Sunday we have a congregational meeting from 6-7 p.m. at our church facility. This past summer, Elders listened to over 60 people from our church community to help us get a sense of our self-perception as a community. On Sunday we will explore and process the stories we gathered. Child care is available for 2nd grade and under but we need you to RSVP today by emailing Karis at Karis@ecclesiaclearlake.org. Older kids are welcome to participate in the meeting or they can do something quietly in the sanctuary while we meet.

This is an important conversation for a number of reasons. Processing the story together will help us deepen our relationships with one another. It will also help us better understand how we see ourselves. I hope you can make it. If you cannot make it but want to be involved in the conversation, email me (Coby@ecclesiaclearlake.org) so we can make other arrangements.

Advent Focus

This year we are exploring prayer as a community during Advent. We will do this in two ways.

This past summer, over 60 people from our church community were invited to participate in intentional listening exercises with the elders in order to get a sense of our self-perception as a community. We have taken the notes from the conversations and used them to write a narrative of our current shared reality. On November 17, we will have a congregation-wide meeting to explore and process the narrative as a community. The meeting will be held at our church facility (218 Clear Creek Ave.) from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
